I, Too, Sing America.
Yet it is I
that is off fighting your war.
Today
I face the smile of Death.
And yet it is I,
still holding your gun
in a war,
fighting for something none of us
believe.
It is my gun
that sings
America, home of the brave.
And you sit
smiling at your friends in the safety
of your own home

But we continue to fight.
We will continue
for you, America.
And we continue to hold
our colors, with pride.
And when we come home,
if we do,
You will greet us with a smile,
and you will offer your hand
with a shake
and a false face.
And while our mothers weep
you share no tears.
But you will realize,
when I'm dead,
that
I, too, am America.
